"At present much interest and support are being manifested in the preparation and official adoption of comprehensive city plans designed to meet these and many other problems involved in rapid municipal growth. City planing is developing into a more or less definite science of computing the probable character and extent of expansion, of determining the readjustments necessary within the present municipal structure, and of planning new areas in accordance with the desirable economic and social standards." Boston: Geo. H. Ellis Printers, 1908. 109p, illustrations, plans, maps. 23cm. Brown cloth back and brown paper boards, titling on the front cover and spine. With the signature of Lincoln Steffens on the front free endpaper and Nolen's "Landscape Architect" business card taped to the front free endpaper. Edges rubbed, skinned, spine ends worn; front free end paper almost loose. In good condition. One of Nolen's early plans. In it he made recommendatiosn for a public square and civic center, a great bay front improvement, small open spaces, streets and boulevards, and a system of parks.
