Three Lectures is the second installment, preceded by Rules for Bookbinders (2004), in a series of publications by and about the bookbinders Fritz and Trudi Eberhardt. Fritz gave lectures within the text at events in Philadelphia, Chambersburg, and Carlisle Pennsylvania in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. With this volume, the Boss Dog Press has endeavored to present these talks, and Fritz’s distinct voice, in a fitting and workmanlike manner. The series, under the rubric Eberhardtina, is an homage to the lives and work of two of the twentieth century’s foremost bookbinding artists. The intent is to publish both material previously available, such as the talks in this volume, and new work based on resources in the Eberhardt archive at the Press. At this point there is a projected three and four volumes upcoming.
