Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1872. [8 leaves]. 29cm. Bound in green cloth over beveled boards, titling and decoration in gilt on black, blue, red and white leather onlays, surrounded by a decorative border stamped in black; in blind on the bottom cover; all edges gilt. Chromolithograph title page, dedicatory page and six plates. Elegant title and dedicatory pages with capitals in gilt, and letters in color on the dedicatory page. The concluding illumination is perhaps the most beautiful in the set. It depicts floral vines, bushes, mice, birds, and a rooster, all in color on a gilt border surrounding the text in red, blue and gilt. All the illuminations are spectacular with gilt and colorful floral decorations. Professionally re-backed and bound with the original cloth laid down. This is a well loved copy of stunning Victorian chromolithography in very good condition.
