Uniform bindings of maroon cloth with titling in gilt, red, and blue, and with oval photographic portrait of Cohan framed in gilt on the front covers; titling and illustration in gilt on the spine. Wear to the spine ends, with the joint cloth torn at the head of the spine of volume 2; corners bumped, rubbed; flecking of cloth especially in the bottom edges; front hinge of volume 1 starting to crack; fore edge damp stain seen mostly on the frontispiece, title page and following pages, slightly less noticeable on the succeeding page and plate fore edges; tear in the fore edge of one plate in volume two. An uncommon set in better than good condition.

Bound in elaborate beveled brown morocco bindings with the title in gilt decoratively framed by floriated embossed designs and rules on the covers; gilt edged raised bands and titling in gilt on the spine; all edges gilt; doublures of simple, short rules in blind. This set for Annie Post with her name in gilt on the front covers. Corners rubbed, spines slightly rubbed, edges rubbed. In very good condition. [Volume one is included, with the same bindings as described, but cracked at the center and lacking pages 371-416.].

Corners bumped, wear to the spine ends; not too detracting stains on the covers; frontispiece and title page foxed, tissue guard torn; prior owner's neat signature on the front fly leaf; still, in better than good condition.
