Ribinson Company in light tan three quarter leather with defining gilt rules and patterned black and gold paper; gilt decorated spine with double black morocco spine labels and black embellishments; top edge gilt; pastedown and endpapers of patterned black and gold paper. Top cover joint on volume one almost cracked, edges slightly rubbed, corners rubbed, spine rubbed; volume two corners rubbed, head of spine rubbed, spine rubbed, short crack in the joint of the front cover at the head of the spine, small chip in one label. All of that said, the volumes are in very good condition, and the bindings attest to the craftsmanship of Sangorski & Sutcliffe, one of Great Britain's great binderies.

Includes a glossary of Arctic terms.Three quarter brown calf and marbled paper boards; titling in red and black labels on the spines, devices in gilt with tooling in black in the panels, raised bands. Moderate shelf wear to edges; leather tail of volume two missing, chips in head of volume one and small crack in hinge of front cover; owner's inscriptions in both volumes; damp stain at fore-edge of volume one on frontis and title-page; moderate foxing throughout. Still very attractive and in good condition.
