Brown beveled morocco binding with tripe gilt border on the covers framing floriated decorative gilt vines; gilt spine; all edges gilt; gilt turn-ins. Presentation binding for Robert C. Grier, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. According to Wikipedia Grier was a member of the majority in Dred Scott, and wrote the majority opinion in the Prize Cases in 1863 which upheld Lincoln's presidential power to blockade Confederate ports. Edges and corners rubbed; small stain on the front cover. In very good condition.
