Bound in quarter black morocco with black morocco corners; raised bands and titling in gilt on the spine. Typed lettered from S. M. Fox is tipped in preceding the title page, in which he states that the first volume "is the only printed record of the soldiers who were mustered into the service of the United States during the war of the rebellion" from Kansas. Older, former "pension library" copy with spine lables and ink stamps. All edges rubbed, wear to the spine ends and corners, small chip at the top of the front cover joint, prior owner's signatures on the front cover pastedown, one crossed out, old tape repair on the second front fly leaf at the gutter near the bottom edge. Volume 2 was issued in 1870. In very good condition.
