Includes: Wife of the First Consul; Citizness Bonaparte; The Youth of the Duchess of Angouleme; The Duchess of Angouleme and the Two Restorations; The Court of the Empress Josephine; Marie Antoinette and the End of the Old Regime; Marie Antoinette and the Downfall of Royalty; Marie Antoinette and the Tuileries; Marie Louise: The Island of Elba and the Hundred Days; Marie Louise and the Decadence of the Empire; Happy Days of the Empress Marie Louise. A few volumes with crudely opened pages resulting in chipping; wear to the spine ends, spines slightly faded; edges rubbed; most tissue guards browned; neat contemporary gift inscription on the free endpaper of one volume. Still, overall a beautiful set of books from very good to near fine condition.

Bookplate on the front free endpaper. Bookseller ticket on the bottom cover pastedown. Front cover joint rubbed near the head of the spine, tail of spine slightly rubbed; two corners bumped, one rubbed. In very good condition.

From the reference library of the United States Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, their bookplate on the front cover pastedown; small label for shelf location, library stamp on the fly leaf, Library of Congress gifts and exchange stamp on the verso of the title page. The book was held in the reference library of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing as an example of exceptional engraving. Joints slightly rubbed. In fine condition.
